Our promise

Handmade in Southeast Asia

Beautiful pieces.
Brighter futures.

Earrings, necklaces and bracelets, made by hand in Southeast Asia. Each piece helps young people grow up with care, schooling and hope.

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field.” Matthew 13:44

Why the name

Two kinds of treasure

The pieces from our workshop are treasures. But the real treasures are the people: those who make them, and the young people this work reaches. Each of them is precious.

Without it, many of them would be under heavy pressure to earn money for their families, often in shady coffee shops for less than 50 pence an hour. We hope this work opens the way to a better future.

If you are holding one of our pieces

Thank you.
Your support changes lives.

Here is the story of the hands behind your piece.

Your piece was made by hand in our small workshop: most often by our jewellery lead, sometimes by one of the young people she is teaching. We don't show faces or say exactly where they live, because their safety comes first.

The profits pay fair wages for our small local team, and they pay for very practical care:

  • iHealth care

Most had never been to a dentist or had their eyes tested, and many lived with toothache. We go with them, and get glasses where they are needed.

  • iiHelp with school

Extra tutoring where it is needed, so they can stay in school for as long as possible.

  • iiiTime to play

We sponsor football for the boys, so they can play together regularly and learn teamwork and confidence. Now and then we also sit down to a meal together.

  • ivSupport at home

When a family is going through a hard time, we help with food and other practical gifts, so the pressure on them eases a little.

At Christmas

A first Christmas

Each of the young people received a Christmas gift of their own. For some of them, it was the first gift they had ever been given.

We also packed food parcels and gave them out to families in the neighbourhood.

The maker

The hands behind the designs

Most of our pieces are made by our jewellery lead. She designs the models, teaches the young people step by step, checks every piece and straightens what is bent before it leaves the table.

Her work here is fairly paid, and she has people around her who stand with her.

The story

Meet Mia

Mia is 14. She lives with her grandmother, since her mother left to work in another city. After school she used to sell fried bananas on the street, often earning about £1 a day, just enough to buy fruit for her younger sisters.

This year she became the first girl to join our programme. She has learned to make jewellery by hand. She has seen a dentist for the first time, her schoolwork is improving, and she has begun to read the stories of the Bible and to pray.

We are glad to walk alongside her, and we look forward to seeing what God will do in her life.

Her name has been changed to protect her.

How the jewellery is made

By hand, around one table

After school our jewellery lead works alongside the young people and teaches them the techniques. Every piece is made carefully by hand from materials we choose with care, so each one turns out a little different.

Beyond the jewellery

Wood, paint and a village

Kingdom Treasures is more than jewellery. In a village in the hills, craftsmen make wooden boards for us, entirely by hand. For families who have a hard time, this means a steady income and a product they can be proud of. The boards become beautiful gifts.

In the same village we lend a hand where it is needed. Recently that meant a fresh coat of paint for a family's home.

Caring for your piece

Made to be worn and loved

A little care keeps your jewellery beautiful for years. Three simple habits are all it takes.

Last on. First off. Kept apart.

  1. 1Last on

Put your jewellery on once perfume, hairspray and lotion have dried. They are the quiet enemies of shine.

  2. 2First off

Take it off before showering, swimming, sport, cleaning and sleep. Water and sweat are what dull metal and wear cords most.

  3. 3Kept apart

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and give each piece its own pouch or little box, somewhere dry and out of direct sun. Lay woven pieces flat instead of hanging them.

By material

  • Pearls

Pearls love to be worn. After wearing, wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let them dry lying flat. Never use cleaning products, and keep them away from harder stones that could scratch them.

  • Gold-plated metal

The gold layer is thin, so be gentle: a soft, dry cloth only, no polishing paste or jewellery dip. Kept away from water and perfume, it stays bright much longer.

  • Stainless steel

Robust and easy. A little warm water with mild soap, then dry it well.

  • Natural stones

Stones can chip if they are knocked, and some colours fade in strong sun. Clean them with a soft cloth only, never with harsh cleaners.

  • Woven pieces and cords

Please don't pull or stretch them. Keep them dry and store them flat. If a thread ever comes loose, don't cut it. Write to us and we will help.

Why we do this

Precious, because God made them

We believe every young person is made in the image of God, precious and full of potential. The work matters, and the person doing it matters more.

Alongside practical help, we want the young people and our team to hear about the love of God and the good news of Jesus, and to find their worth in Him.

Plainly said

What we want you to know

  • We work with local partners in Southeast Asia. For everyone's safety we do not name the place.
